Biography

Originally from Mexico City, Maite Agahnia, attributes her way of seeing the world around her to moving between different countries, languages, and cultures throughout her life. Equally fluent in her artistic practice, Agahnia works in a variety of media: printmaking, painting, photography, and encaustic. She focuses on creating hybrid combinations of the various materials, giving her art unique and unexpected qualities. Agahnia’s work in graphic design and photography is evident in her paintings. Incorporating the structure of graphic design and photography in contrast to the freedom of abstraction, her work examines the relationship between the two. This exploration of balance and harmony is the cornerstone of the artist’s studio practice. Fresh and exciting, Agahnia’s art is rich in layers of color, shapes, and texture. From her constant exploration of new materials to her unusual juxtapositions of structure and abstraction, Agahnia’s work is both original and compelling. Her work has been commissioned by several commercial developments including Rancho Valencia Resort in California and First Service Residential in New York.

Biography

Maria Orfano was born the 25th August 1995 in Arona, a small town on Lake Maggiore. In 2020 she completed her scientific formation obtaining a master's degree in civil engineering, at Politecnico di Milano. In her early adolescence she started to be interested in painting as a self-taught artist and she carried out a sporadic pictorial activity, whose main themes were still lifes and landscapes. In August 2020, after what she herself defines as "a sort of epiphany", she decided to completely overturn her approach to art, so she started to create works through the use of commonly used objects, combined with studs, which are the main trait of her new poetics. Thus the new personality of Acrylicneeds was born. Her main purpose is to show a distorted vision of nature, in order to create contrasts and to overturn the concept of the object. The main themes addressed by the artist are loneliness of human beings, existential distress and the desire for isolation from the outside world. With a provocative attitude, the compositions of Acrylicneeds want to invite to introspection, asking the viewer to change the point of view with respect to reality.

Biography

Martyna Pietrasik is a Polish artist whose research is mainly developed through painting. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and currently works in Milan, where she settled after studying art for a year at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Martyna grew up surrounded by nature and this has constantly influenced her art, inspiring colours and shapes. Nature is one of the main protagonists of her works together with the body figure, which has always been strongly connected with it and committed to a perpetual return to its origins. His experience with anorexia strongly intensified his interest in the depiction of his own body and its biological structure, always associating it with the natural element, so that organic forms can merge into botanical and natural ones, and vice versa. The mostly abstract shapes with their saturated and intense colours melt into an extremely dreamlike landscape, taking us on a journey to the edge of reality.

Biography

Thomas Pagani Aka Rinkaku, was born in Milan in 1997. He graduated from the Boccioni art school in Milan in painting and sculptural techniques and continued his studies following a digital game design path at the Event Horizon School. He created a series of interactive projects with Team SolEtude, winning the “Best Italian Debut Game” award at the Italian Video Game Awards, and finally arriving at the Event Horizon School as a tutor. He later dedicated himself to analog photography with a work focused on the exploration of the spaces of Milan in search of lights that give a feeling of peace and detachment from the increasingly rapid and suffocating rhythms of modern everyday life, seeing this research as a form of personal and social reportage that aims to analyze an alternative possibility to the experience of the modern world. He currently works in a personally built darkroom within Studio Abraxas.

Biography

Natalia Martìnez was born in Burgos, Spain. She studied Art Restoration in her hometown, completing her studies in Fashion Design in Milan, the city where she settled for a period of her life. Through her experience in fashion, she became interested in different textile materials from an alternative perspective: ribbons obtained from cut fabric. The union of her passion for tailoring and her previous studies led her to a love for precision and repetitive manual work, as well as increasing the importance of color in processes. Thus was born her passion for masks, an object that has been present since the dawn of humanity. Her works are created through the crochet technique, which she wanted to elevate to a more complex and free level, getting rid of the consolidated flat patterns with traditional and natural fibers to give life to the possibility of improvisation, transforming the flat knit into three-dimensional with a sculptural approach through ribbons, fibers and hardware materials, considered less noble and waste. This experimentation with the technique led her to the study of irregular and intangible faces. Her work is approached with the precision of the profession and the utmost spontaneity, bringing her into a dimension that combines art and craftsmanship.

Biography

Ylenia Pigozzo was born in Como in 1988. Her artistic persona Ipsilonpi, on the other hand, only took shape in 2011, when for the first time, in a completely subconscious way, she creates her first work. From that moment, a long experimentation began, through various techniques and different materials, but always with an abstract style. Her paintings are made of textures, colors, feelings and stories, tales of souls and travels born from the need to express her feelings as a traveller, especially in this historical period of disconnection from nature. After a very intense personal moment, the painter feels the urgency of sharing her art, until then kept only for herself to channel all her energies into a project that is entirely personal. Thus the itinerant 'ipsilonpi studio' was born in January 2022, an idea that very much reflects her philosophy of life, and that she aims to use to collaborate with artists from all over the world. Her art is for travellers and to remind that one doesn’t necessarily have to be a connoisseur to be part of the artistic sphere.

Biography

Carla is a self-taught mixed media artist currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her process is intuitive, bold, and inquisitive, drawing inspiration through her exploration of color, texture, and pattern to create visual layers. She is driven by an innate curiosity, finding inspiration at any given moment. It could be to a particular color, shape, line, or just stumbling on a new technique she wants to delve into. Her work explores the relationships of organic and geometric shapes and how their juxtaposition interacts in space and color. She often incorporates transparent layers of hand printed papers and tissue, which begs the viewer to explore what lies beneath the surface unfolding the mystery one layer after another. Her work has been featured in multiple international juried exhibitions and in publications such as Vanity Fair UK.

Biography

Chiara Cattaneo, 22, is a recent graduate in Visual Design and has a strong passion for art. Her artistic project started 3 years ago. During the pandemic, to complete the exam of Exhibit Design, a random artist was assigned to her: Vanessa Beecroft. Taking inspiration from her artwork VB 74, grew her need to communicate the distance and the coldness of the relationships she, and perhaps other people, are daily involved in. Everything is a paradox. Her artistic work is based on the research of simple materials, that anyone can have at home. She mainly uses water, sugar and paper. These objects find their beauty in their simplicity, which brought to light, shines and creates spontaneous, dreamlike, connections and dimensions. Her paintings are hidden in plain sight. Something that doesn’t exist but that anyone can notice: you only need to get closer and stay.

Biography

Giona Messina doesn’t know how to write a biography, perhaps it even slightly bores him. He was born in Terni, Umbria, in 1993, grew up in Catania, Sicily and currently lives in Padua. He started his artistic career in Sicily, but he soon found himself restricted. He wanders a a lot, not only for artistic reasons but also believing that the contact with himself and other people is the core of his experience. He doesn’t collect artistic experiences, dates, places, curators’ names, but he has fun playing in this world that he doesn’t fully understand yet. He gets lost, he finds himself, sometimes things don’t go well, others he’s simply not satisfied. He doesn’t work for material rewards but to enrich his own personal path.

Biography

Born in Ho Chi Minh City in 1994, she arrived in France at the age of one, and was adopted by French parents. Painting came to her 20 years ago when she received her first painting set for her birthday. It fast became a way of expressing all her emotions. As a self-taught painter, she graduated from the Panthéon Sorbonne University in Paris. She lives in her Parisian flat or in her parents' house in Aix en Provence, devoting her free time to painting. After working for a few years in marketing and advertising, she decided to leave more room for painting, especially during confinement. For her Art has always been a way of escaping from my fast- paced daily life. Her style is full of colors, nature and abstractionism that aim at bringing any kind of emotion to people. Whenever she paints she feels devoted to her painting and always finds the deepest emotions. She wants people to feel alive, to be aligned with what they feel and what they see. She has exhibited her work for the first time in a Gallery in Aix-en-Provence this year.

Biography

His works are a rhythmic interplay between transparency and inertia. Transparency makes one see through and beyond, while inertia is existence itself. His paintings evade the concept of drawing to indicate a new kind of freedom, like the nature of sound, where transparency and inertia meet. At the right intensity, clarity and frequency, Mahesh's works focus the senses and become a place where music can be heard. This is the art that the artist intends to create. The artist studied the techniques of fine arts as a pure passion to nurture his natural inclination to capture his images on canvas. Skilled in all mediums, he enjoys playing with chiaroscuro as much as he delights in everyday subjects, trying to symbolically represent a simple truth: there is joy in every little thing!

PIECE OF MIND, YOUNG ART HUNTERS, BORDIGHERA

Biography

He grew up in Milan in the GAR, Gruppo Artisti Rosetum, and during his youth (1974 - 1985) he acquired his knowledge of tempera and oil techniques by attending the Circolo del Gar and directly in the studios - where he savoured the expressive research - of painters such as Bellé, Suigo and Bianchi. During this period, he exhibited his first oil paintings in various group exhibitions, including 'Arte Strada'. Part of this early production is still in the hands of the author, other parts are in private hands (Taini collection and others).
Since the late 1990s, his artistic production has steadily focused on acrylics (on wood and canvas in medium and large sizes), with a strong research on the intersections between science and art, between harmony and chaos. In this mature period, she exhibited in Via Bagutta (various editions) and in several group exhibitions, including Bardolino in Arte (last edition, 2022). For the past ten years he has supported the Fondazione Arte e Scienza, in memory of Renzo Bergamo; he has supported the Dova family in the promotion of the Dova archive, and maintains stable correspondence with scientists and artists on the themes of chaos, harmony and symmetry (Lanzi, Della Pergola, as well as the late Giorello, Simonelli, Daverio).

Biography

Jane Thompson was born and raised on a farm in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, Australia. An avid explorer, Jane has lived and workded in many places throughout Australia, including Broken Hill, the Kimberleys, Canberra, Sydney and now Brisbane where she lives her with two young children, one husband and one mischievous Beagle. Jane’s artwork is vibrant and full of moving energy. She is inspired and fascinated by the energy we create as human beings through our emotions, our intentions and our experiences. By tapping into the space that exits between thoughts, the active state of creating for Jane is conversely almost meditative, where she allows her sub-conscious to intuitively make the decisions and show her the way. Preferring to paint with no rules, no boundaries, no expectations and no plan of what it should be, the end result is a complete surprise to Jane. Through her brisk approach, deliberate use of contrast and expressive gestural marks, Jane’s art evokes joyful optimism, personal reflection and bold inspiration. Her paintings are colorful, imaginative, expressive and spontaneous. And the process absolutely always involves music.
